Vol. 352 No. 5

Written Answers. - Radar Stations.

98.

asked the Minister for Communications if he is aware of claims made by the Leader of the Official Unionist Party, Mr. James Molyneaux, that radar stations in the Republic were being used to plug a gap in NATO defences; if the Government will undertake an immediate investigation of these claims in view of the possible implications for Irish neutrality; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no NATO involvement in any radar or other shipping or aviation navigational or communication system located in the State and the claims made are completely groundless.
