Vol. 352 No. 5

Written Answers. - State Investment.

141.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount the Government hopes to recoup from the funds of the European Community in relation to State investment of £291 million for industry in the private sector and £21 million for State companies in the current budget year.

The source of the figures quoted by the Deputy is not clear. The only Community fund from which the Exchequer receives recoupment of expenditure in respect of industrial grants to the private sector is the European Regional Development Fund. It is estimated that about £13 million will be received in 1984 in respect of industrial projects approved for ERDF aid.

Aid related to training in the private sector is recouped to the IDA, SFADCo and Údarás na Gaeltachta from the European Social Fund; the estimated amount of this recoupment in 1984 is £12 million.
