asked the Minister for Finance the amount of income tax collected under the PAYE system (a) in the directors' division in Dublin, (b) in the rest of the country and (c) in all direct assessments districts located in Dublin for the years 1981, 1982 and 1983.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that (a) statistics are not available which would enable separate figures to be supplied in respect of PAYE collected from persons dealt with by directors' division in Dublin; (b) PAYE tax collected in the years in question for districts outside Dublin are as follows:— 1981, £315 million; 1982, £368 million; 1983, £417 million and (c) PAYE tax is not collected in such districts, but the amount of income tax (other than PAYE) collected for the years in question in the district assessment district in Dublin are 1981, £117 million; 1982, £147 million; and 1983, £182 million.
