485.

asked the Minister for Health the up-to-date position concerning the proposed new hospital at Tallaght, County Dublin.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 484 and 485 together.

I have given the Tallaght Hospital Board approval to organise an architectural competition for the design of the new hospital based on the planning brief as submitted to me by the board. Applications from interested architects, practising in this country, are now being sought. The hospital will be developed on a phased basis. The first phase will contain 450 beds with the appropriate back-up facilities.
