Vol. 352 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

674.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when it is proposed to make grant-aid available for joint drainage schemes being carried out by farmers on a group basis, such as a case in County Wexford (details supplied), given that many such schemes have been drawn up by local farm development services offices but have not yet been sanctioned by his Department.

Grant aid for certain group investment schemes under the revised farm modernisation scheme is now being made available. Appropriate instructions for dealing with these schemes have recently issued to local farm development service offices. The group scheme referred to will now be processed with a view to the issue of an approval at an early date if everything is in order.

675.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid a calf subsidy for a total of nine calves as he urgently requires the money.

Payment is being refused in this case under condition 13 (c) of the terms and conditions of the calf premium scheme because the person named contravened the disease eradication regulations by selling the nine calves on which he had claimed premium to a dealer without having them tested.
