Written Answers. - Group Water Schemes.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Aughderry/Ghacurren/Moyne/ Cortoonmore group water supply scheme, County Roscommon; when he will be in a position to approve this scheme and to allocate grants.

State grants totalling £20,976 were allocated for this scheme on 30 August 1984.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Creeve No. 2 group water supply scheme, County Roscommon; and when he will be in a position to approve the scheme and allocate grants to it.

This group proposes to obtain a water supply from an existing group scheme in the locality. The availability of a water supply from that scheme must be established before the proposed scheme can be considered for grants. I cannot say at this stage when grants may be allocated for this scheme.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Cornafulla south group water supply scheme, County Roscommon; when he will be in a position to approve the scheme and allocate grants to it.

The estimated cost of this scheme is currently being determined to enable the allocation of grants to be considered.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Aughoo group water supply scheme, County Roscommon; and when he will be in a position to approve this scheme and allocate grants to it.

The source originally proposed for this scheme cannot provide an adequate water supply for the group's needs. I understand that Roscommon County Council are investigating the availability of an alternative source which could be developed by the group. I cannot say when grants may be allocated for the scheme.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Castlequarter group water scheme, County Roscommon; when the scheme will be approved; and when he will be in a position to allocate grants to it.

An estimate of costs is being prepared by my Department with a view to allocating grants for the scheme at an early date.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Antrane/Thomastown group water scheme, County Roscommon; when the scheme will be approved; and when he will be in a position to allocate grants to it.

Roscommon County Council's request for an increase in the amount of the special contribution approved in 1983 towards the cost of increased pipe sizes in this scheme is under consideration in my Department. In addition, the approved design for the scheme is being re-examined to ensure that it can provide an adequate water supply to other proposed schemes which intend to connect to it in the future. I cannot say at this stage when grants may be allocated to the Antrane/Thomastown group.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Cross/Edmondstown group water scheme, County Roscommon; and when he will be in a position to approve the scheme and allocate grants to it.

Grants totalling £1,306 were allocated provisionally for the Cross/ Edmondstown group water scheme in 1982 to serve two houses and two farms on condition that the parties concerned drew up a legal agreement for use of the proposed source. I understand that the group has not proceeded with the scheme and is considering the possibility of obtaining water from the North Roscommon Regional Water Supply Scheme, Stage 1 of which is under construction.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Correal group water scheme, County Roscommon; and when he will be in a position to approve the scheme and allocate grants to it.

State grants totalling £19,800 were allocated for this scheme on 4 July 1984.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Cuilglass group water supply scheme, County Roscommon; when he will be in a position to approve the scheme and allocate grants to it.

This group have been asked to confirm the amount of rock excavation likely to be encountered on the scheme. The allocation of grants for the scheme will be considered when this information is received.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will be in a position to approve the Drinagh/ Loughglynn group water supply scheme, County Roscommon and allocate grants to it.

State grants totalling £6,594 were allocated for this scheme on 4 July 1984.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will be in a position to approve the Lisacul north, County Roscommon group water supply scheme and allocate grants to it.

State grants totalling £17,782 were allocated for this scheme on 4 July 1984.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will be in a position to approve the Fuerty group water supply scheme, County Roscommon and allocate grants for it.

This group has been requested to furnish additional documentation so that an estimate of cost can be prepared and the allocation of grants considered for the scheme. I cannot say at this stage when grants may be allocated to the group.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will be in a position to approve and allocate grants towards the Lissergool/Lisacurkia/Lung/ Lissian group water supply scheme, County Roscommon; and the present position of this scheme.

Grants totalling £35,540 were allocated to this group on 2 August 1984. I understand, however, that the group have decided to re-invite tenders for the work and the grant allocation may have to be re-examined as a result.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Ballybeg group water supply scheme, County Roscommon; when he will be in a position to approve the scheme and allocate grants to it.

Additional information is awaited from the group to enable the allocation of grants to be considered for this scheme.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will be in a position to approve of grants for the Earlspark group water supply, County Roscommon.

The revised design for this scheme has been approved by my Department and forwarded to Roscommon County Council for their approval. I cannot say when State grants may be allocated for the scheme.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Lisheen group water supply scheme, County Roscommon; and when he will be in a position to approve the scheme and allocate grants to it.

This scheme is dependent on the provision of the North East Roscommon Regional Scheme by Roscommon County Council. The specification and working drawings for the regional scheme are currently under examination in my Department. I cannot say at this stage when grants may be allocated for the group scheme.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Dysart group water supply scheme, County Roscommon; when he will be in a position to approve the scheme and allocate grants to it.

Certain technical aspects of this scheme must be clarified with the group before the allocation of grants for the scheme can be considered further. I cannot say at this stage when grants may be allocated for the scheme.

asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the Corglass/Keadue group water supply scheme, County Roscommon; and when he will be in a position to approve the scheme and allocate grants to it.

A revised design for this scheme has recently been approved by my Department. The group will now be asked to furnish additional documentation so that an estimate of costs can be prepared and the allocation of grants considered for the scheme.

378.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the Scardane/Tremane group water supply scheme, County Roscommon was submitted to his Department.

Survey sheets for the Scardane/Tremane group water supply scheme were received in my Department on 21 June 1982. I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 437 on 26 June 1984.
