Vol. 352 No. 8

Written Answers. - Housing Finance Agency Loans.

383.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of approved applicants for housing finance agency loans that will not be paid this year because of lack of funds in south Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

384.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will grant an extra allocation to South Tipperary County Council to finance approved applicants for Housing Finance Agency loans because of the lack of funds at present; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

385.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will grant an extra allocation nationally to the Housing Finance Agency to finance approved applicants who are not receiving loans because of the lack of funds at present; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

386.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of approved applicants for Housing Finance Agency loans who will not be paid this year nationally because of lack of funds; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

392.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make an extra allocation to the housing finance agency to allow them to make payments to applicants whose loans have been sanctioned this year; if he is aware that many approved applicants who have been sanctioned for loans have entered into legal and financial commitments to purchase or erect houses and that these applicants will suffer very severe financial hardship if this extra allocation is not made, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 383, 384, 385, 386 and 392 together. The administration of its loan scheme is entirely a matter for the agency itself and for the individual local authorities which operate the scheme on the agency's behalf. The capital allocation to the agency in 1984 has been increased by £7 million bringing its total allocation to £70 million. The distribution, within this total, of funds between local authorities to enable loans to be paid as they mature is a matter for the agency but I understand that there should now be no undue delays in the payment of loans in 1984.
