In the current year, I notified Sligo County Council of the commitment of a further grant of £150,000 for the Garavogue river bridge scheme, bringing to £400,000 the total of the road grants committed to preliminary expenditure on the project to date. The question of the provision of additional finance for the project will be considered in the determination of road grants for 1985 and subsequent years, having regard, inter alia, to the stage reached by Sligo County Council in developing the proposal.
