Vol. 352 No. 8

Written Answers. - Cable Television Licences.

429.

asked the Minister for Communications if an exclusive licence to provide cablevision for a number of towns in Munster has been granted, and if he has agreed in relation to the granting of licences to the towns of Mallow and Fermoy, County Cork.

Exclusive cable television licences have been issued in respect of the following areas: Cappoquin; Cork City; Dungarvan; Limerick City; Lismore; Tallow; Waterford City. The issue of licences in respect of 17 other centres is being pursued.

Competitions for the award of exclusive cable television licences for Fermoy and Mallow were advertised in the national daily newspapers in February 1984. No applications for such licences were, however, received. It is not intended to hold further competitions for these areas in the immediate future.
