Vol. 353 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Border Fund.

460.

asked the Minister for Finance if money was allocated under the Special Border Fund for natural gas development in the Border counties; if so the amount involved; and if it is intended to ensure that the money will be available for the gasline extension into County Louth.

There is no provision in the EC regulation governing the special border areas programme which would allow the allocation of money for natural gas development in the Border counties. That programme is essentially concerned with the development of tourism in the Border counties.

As regards the supply of natural gas to County Louth, the Tánaiste replied to a question by Deputy Faulkner on this matter on 10 October. There is nothing I can add to that reply.

461.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount allocated to each county from the Border counties fund in 1984; the amount taken up; and the projects aided.
