Vol. 353 No. 4

Written Answers. - Building Society Liquidation.

488.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism if any action can be taken to assist investors in Irish Saving Building Society which is now in liquidation; and if he will consider inviting other building societies to take over the assets and liabilities of the ISBS.

Apart from the liquidation proceedings, the affairs of the building society and closely associated societies and companies are being investigated at the request of the Registrar of Friendly Societies. Pending the outcome of these investigations, it would not be appropriate for me to make a statement in the matter.
