579.

asked the Minister for Labour the employment structure of the Charleville catchment area, County Cork, expressed as a percentage of total employment by sector, e.g. agriculture, industry, autonomous services and induced services.

The only source of information on the employment structure in particular localities is the census of population series carried out by the Central Statistics Office. The relevant figures from the 1981 Census have not yet been published. The 1971 Census figures are the latest available.

Some information on manufacturing employment is available from the employment survey undertaken each year by the Industrial Development Authority. It is understood that, on the basis of a survey currently in progress, there are 735 persons employed in manufacturing industry in Charleville and surrounding district.
