Vol. 353 No. 9

Written Answers. - Farm Development Projects.

792.

asked the Minister for Agriculture in view of the success of agricultural development schemes, based on the use of group advisory work at community level, such as the Small Farm Incentive Bonus Scheme where output of the participants rose by 15 per cent annually compared with a growth of 2 per cent among farmers generally, if he agrees that it would be appropriate to increase the number of intensive advisory projects; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The increasing of the number of intensive advisory projects is a matter for ACOT. As indicated in the national plan, it is Government policy to ensure that State aid for farm development will be based on careful planning and economic evaluation through the advisory service.
