The proposed scheme will be examined further upon receipt of a design from the group. I cannot say at this stage when grants may be allocated or paid to the group.

There are no proposals before my Department for a group water scheme at Ballyglass. The Deputy may be referring to a group scheme completed at Ballyglass-Cleragh in 1980, in respect of which grants totalling £5,969 were paid by my Department.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the Barnstown group water scheme, County Roscommon, will be cleared by his Department; and when a grant will issue.
This group has not contacted my Department since 1981, when they were requested to confirm that they had access to a suitable source for their proposed scheme. Further consideration will be given to their proposal when it is established that a suitable water supply is available to the group.

A large part of the scheme which this group proposed to provide is now being carried out as a public scheme by Roscommon County Council. My Department will contact the group shortly to ascertain their current intentions for providing the balance of the scheme.

A design for this proposed scheme was recently received in my Department and is currently under examination. I cannot say at this stage whether this scheme will qualify for grants and, if so, when grants may be allocated or paid to the group.

The group has been asked by my Department to obtain quotations for providing the scheme so that an estimate of costs can be prepared with a view to the allocation of State grants to the group. I cannot say at this stage when my Department will be in a position to allocate or pay grants for this scheme.
