Vol. 354 No. 1

Written Answers. - Court Conviction.

716.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 3 was not informed that he was to appear in court as he read in the papers at the weekend that he was convicted in his absence.

Limerick East): I am informed by the Garda authorities that the summons which was issued in this case was not served on the person concerned, and that the law officers considered that, because of this, the case was not properly before the District Court. Arrangements are in hand to have the conviction set aside by the High Court. The solicitor for the person referred to in the question has been notified of the position.
