Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

597.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A £1,000 new house grant will be paid in this case when an inspection establishes that the house is complete and occupied and complies with all other conditions governing the grant scheme. The file is at present with my Department's inspector who has been asked to expedite his investigation and report.

598.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the first instalment of a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A mortgage subsidy cannot be paid to the person named as he is not eligible under the scheme. He executed his mortgage prior to 10 April 1981 and the subsidy is payable only in respect of mortgages created on or after that date.

599.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for immediate payment of a home improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Grants in respect of the provision of a water supply and building an extra bedroom have been paid in this case. On the receipt of notification that the works are completed a further inspection will be arranged with a view to the payment of grants in respect of the provision of sewerage and bathroom facilities if in order.
