Vol. 354 No. 4

Written Answers. - Government Properties.

640.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline in detail (1) the locations of all properties owned, leased, rented, occupied or otherwise by all Government Departments, agencies, semi-State, or State-sponsored bodies; (2) the total area of each property and the total area occupied by each Department, agency etc.; (3) the length of time for which each property has been occupied; (4) the date of occupation; (5) the length of each lease; (6) the annual cost of each specificd lease; (7) the locations of any properties or part thereof which are sublet by any Government Department or agency or otherwise, the amount of space of each sub-let area and the specific annual rent being received for each sub-let area; (8) the location of any vacant property owned, rented or leased by any Government Department, agency or otherwise at the moment, the length of time that any of these properties have been vacant and the present rent or lease being paid for them; (9) the number of Government Departments, agencies or otherwise seeking office space at the moment; (10) the number of Government Departments, agencies or otherwise having property to let at the moment, and any other relevant information available; and if he will make a statement on Government property requirements etc.

The amount of work involved and therefore the expense does not justify endeavouring to answer this question. Neither is the benefit to be derived from such answer clear. Furthermore, some of the information sought could not be given, as for example rent per sq. ft., which is regarded as confidential. Should the Deputy wish to raise a specific question then every effort will be made to supply him with a specific answer where this is possible.
