Vol. 354 No. 4

Written Answers. - Night-Time Medical Services.

641.

asked the Minister for Health the formal arrangements, if any, which exist to ensure night-time GP services (a) within the GMS and (b) in general.

Conditions relating to the provision of night-time services by general practitioners within the GMS are contained in the terms of the contract between the general practitioner and the health board. These require arrangements to be made for the doctor or his deputy to be contacted outside normal hours for urgent cases. Services provided to a private patient are a matter for agreement between the doctor and patient and I have no function in the regulation of this matter.
