Vol. 354 No. 4

Written Answers. - Westmeath Health Services.

642.

asked the Minister for Health if he will describe in detail the health services available under the GMS in the Devlin/Clonmellon area of County Westmeath, with particular reference to the dispensing of prescriptions in the Devlin area.

The number of people eligible for services under the general medical services scheme in this area is 743. General practitioner services are provided by a participating doctor who is resident in Clonmellon. The doctor concerned dispenses drugs for patients as his centre of practice is more than three miles from a chemist participating in the general medical service. All other services to which medical card holders are entitled are available to eligible persons in this area and may be obtained on application to the Midland Health Board.
