Vol. 354 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

634.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in the payment of a tax rebate to a person (details supplied) in County Louth.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer retired on 3 August 1984 and submitted a tax repayment claim on the grounds of unemployment to the inspector of taxes on 4 September 1984. Following correspondence with the taxpayer in relation to his claim it transpired that since his retirement he has been in receipt of a pension from his former employer and a social welfare pension. On 20 November 1984 the taxpayer was requested to supply certain outstanding information regarding his social welfare pension. When this information is supplied a certificate of tax-free allowances operative on a cumulative basis will be issued to him. Any tax which may have been overdeducted from his income since 6 April last will be refundable by his former employer on operation of this certificate.
