Vol. 354 No. 7

Written Answers. - Youth Employment Levy.

839.

asked the Minister for Labour the total amount of money owed by (a) farmers and (b) self-employed in County Kildare in respect of the youth employment levy.

Health boards were responsible for collection of the youth employment levy from farmers for the tax years 1982-83 and 1983-84. The Eastern Health Board estimate that £358,408 in respect of levy is owed by farmers in County Kildare.

The Collector General is responsible for collection of the levy from the self-employed and for collection from farmers for 1984-85 tax year. His records are by reference to income tax districts. These do not necessarily coincide on a county basis and information concerning County Kildare is not available.
