Written Answers. - Ministerial Travelling Expenses.

asked the Minister for Communications the amount paid in travelling expenses to each Minister of State in his Department from 1 November 1983 to 1 November 1984.

The amount paid is £3,398.97.

asked the Minister for Communications the amount paid to each civilian driver employed to drive the private cars of Ministers of State in his Department from 1 November 1983 to 1 November 1984.

Sums of £942.59 and £954.70 were paid to two civilian drivers employed to drive the Minister of State at the Department of Posts and Telegraphs up to 1 January 1984 when the Department ceased to exist. The salaries and expenses of the drivers employed by the present Minister of State at my Department are paid by Roinn an Taoisigh to which the Minister of State is jointly assigned.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount paid in travelling expenses to each Minister of State from 1 November 1983 to 1 November 1984.

The amount paid in travelling expenses to the Minister of State at the Department of Finance from 1 November 1983 to 1 November 1984 was £15,105.58

asked the Minister for Finance the amount paid to each civilian driver employed to drive the private cars of Ministers of State from 1 November 1983 to 1 November 1984.

In the case of the Minister of State at the Department of Finance two civilian drivers were employed and were paid the following amounts in the period 1 November 1983 to 1 November 1984: — (a) £10,026.64 (b) £8,954.54.
