Written Answers. - Ministerial Travelling Expenses.

asked the Minister for Health the amount paid in travelling expenses to each Minister of State in his Department from November 1983 to 1 November 1984.

265.

asked the Minister for Health the amount paid to each civilian driver employed to drive the private cars of Ministers of State in his Department from 1 November 1983.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 264 and 265 together.

The travelling expenses of the present Minister of State at the Department of Health amounted to £13,660 for the period to 1 November 1984. His predecessor's travelling expenses amounted to £1,618 for the period 1 November 1983 to 15 December 1983.

The amount paid to the two civilian drivers employed to drive the Minister of State at the Department of Health from 1 November 1983 to 15 December 1983 was £414 in each case. Two new drivers were employed on 16 December 1983 due to the assignment of a new Minister of State to the Department. The amount paid to them to date was £11,195 and £11,455 respectively.
