Vol. 354 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dundrum (Tipperary) Sawmills.

7.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the plans, if any, his Department have for increased employment and for further plant development at Dundrum Sawmills, County Tipperary.

In the interests of improving efficiency and producing higher quality sawnwood at this mill some new equipment has recently been provided and the installation of further machinery is envisaged. In addition, improved work practices are being introduced and site works aimed at rationalising storage space and providing better security are in train.

As existing staff levels are considered adequate for the work programme there are no immediate plans for recruitment of additional personnel but the situation will be kept under review.
