asked the Minister for Education if she will arrange for payment of a grant to the management board of Culleens national school, Killala Road, Ballina, County Mayo, to reimburse them for moneys spent on heating, floor covering and furniture arising from the transfer of pupils to the former national school at Killala because of the dangerous condition of Culleens national school.

My Department on 23 November 1984 sanctioned a grant towards the cost of improvements carried out to the former national school building at Killala, County Mayo, to enable it to be used pending the erection of the proposed new school at Culleens. Payment of the grant is a matter for the Commissioners of Public Works.

asked the Minister for Education if she will sanction and fix the briefing session between Mayo VEC and the architect appointed to prepare extensions for Crossmolina vocational school; if she is aware of the deplorable overcrowded conditions at the school; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department have approved the provision of an extension to Crossmolina vocational school to enable it to cater for 225 students overall. A suggested schedule of accommodation for the extension has been forwarded to County Mayo Vocational Education Committee. The Department are awaiting the agreement of the committee to the schedule and when this is received, a planning briefing meeting to initiate architectural planning of the project will be arranged.
