Vol. 355 No. 4

Written Answers. - Galway City Bus Strike.

586.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will make a statement regarding proposals for the settlement of the bus strike in Galway city.

This dispute has arisen over the proposed rescheduling of certain bus routes in the Galway area. Discussions have been going on since June 1983. The Labour Court issued a recommendation in November 1984. The recommendation was rejected and a strike commenced on the 14 January 1985.

The Labour Court conciliation service again intervened and talks took place on 21 and 22 January. Conciliation talks were resumed on Monday, 28 January and are continuing today. I hope these talks will be successful and normal services resumed.
