Vol. 355 No. 4

Written Answers. - Euro Route.

391.

asked the Minister for the Environment the progress which has been made in the development of the motorway which is proposed from Dublin to the Border area via County Louth; the current position in the matter, the moneys his Department are seeking from European funds; how long it will take to complete this work; when it will commence approximately; and if he will make a statement on this important national issue.

393.

asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of moneys which his Department intend to apply to the Euro 1 Route from Dundalk to Drogheda; the portion of this money that will be secured from EC regional funds; if, in view of the fact that this is the major traffic route on the east coast, he is satisfied that sufficient funds have been made available for this important road network development; the future plans his Department has to secure further funds from the EC regional fund; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 391 and 393 together.

I would refer the Deputy to the new road plan being announced today. The plan outlines the Government's policy and planning framework for roads. It deals specifically with work done in recent years and work proposed on the Euro route E.01 and other priority routes and with the question of EC aid for such work.
