Vol. 355 No. 4

Written Answers. - Drogheda Docks.

411.

asked the Minister for Communications in view of the very serious situation at Drogheda docks and the substantial amount of money required to complete this much-needed replacement work, if he will state if his Department has made any application for EC regional funds, if he can now state if this work would qualify under that heading; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am considering an application from Drogheda Harbour Commissioners for grant assistance for the reconstruction of Welshman's and Ballast Quays. If the project is approved for Exchequer grant assistance, the possibility of assistance from the European Regional Development Fund will then be examined. I cannot of course, say whether or not an application to the Fund for assistance would be successful.
