Vol. 355 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

412.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer submitted a claim to repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment to the inspector of taxes on 5 December 1984. The claim was dealt with on 4 January 1985, and a cheque in settlement was issued on 23 January 1985.

On the basis of the information available to the inspector, the taxpayer was granted all the allowances and reliefs to which she is entitled for the current year in dealing with her repayment claim Consequently, there is no balance of allowances available for transfer to her husband.

413.

asked the Minister for Finance if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 3 is to receive a tax rebate which was applied for six weeks ago.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer ceased employment on 7 December 1984, and submitted a claim to repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment on 8 January 1985. On examining the claim it was discovered by the inspector that tax had been under-deducted by the employer from the taxpayer's earnings in the current year and, consequently, there is no repayment due. The position was explained to the taxpayer when he called to the tax office on 22 January and the inspector has also written to him in the matter.

414.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a tax refund has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer's application for a repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment was received in the tax office on 11 January 1985. The claim has been dealt with and a cheque in settlement should reach him shortly.
