Vol. 355 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tax Refunds.

417.

asked the Minister for Finance when a full refund of PAYE income tax will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer ceased employment on 30 September 1984, and submitted a claim to repayment of income tax on the grounds of unemployment to the inspector on 6 November 1984. The claim was dealt with on 16 November 1984, and a cheque in settlement was issued to her on 22 November 1984. When her claim was being processed the taxpayer was given credit for the full balance of tax-free allowances available to her for the current year, 1984-85. Accordingly, there is no further refund due.

418.

asked the Minister for Finance when a person (details supplied) in County Kerry will receive a refund of VAT for September-October 1984.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that it was necessary to refer the claim for repayment of VAT to the inspector of taxes for audit. It was certified for repayment in the amount claimed and a cheque in settlement was issued to the trader on 24 January 1985.
