asked the Minister for Finance in view of the hardships experienced by farmers due to flooding from the River Erne and its tributaries (details supplied), if it is not urgent to undertake a programme of drainage of the Erne and its tributaries.
Written Answers. - Erne Drainage.
A scheme for the southern reaches of the Erne catchment was prepared in 1970 but was not proceeded with for economic reasons. Having regard to existing commitments and pending the outcome of a review of arterial drainage policy which is currently under consideration in my Department, the Commissioners of Public Works are not in a position to renew activity in the matter.
