Vol. 355 No. 4

Written Answers. - Farm Incomes.

552.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he considers that due to the fact that farm incomes are now under threat from restrictions in dairy output it is essential that farm incomes be maintained by appropriate increases in prices for agricultural products, and noting in this respect that the average EC prices are higher than in Ireland, if he will indicate the improvement he hopes to achieve in 1985.

During the coming agricultural price negotiations I shall be seeking to secure the best possible result in order to assist Irish farm incomes and further the interests of the economy generally. It is essential, however, that we achieve greater efficiency at farm, processing and marketing levels if producer returns here are to match those obtainable elsewhere in the Community.
