Vol. 355 No. 7

Written Answers. - Local Authority Superannuation Scheme.

434.

asked the Minister for the Environment when it is anticipated that the provisions relating to the reduction of superannuation awards as set out in the final report of the working party on Local Authority Superannuation will be put into effect; and the present position regarding a person (details supplied) in Dublin 5 whose claim is outstanding since early 1982.

The recommendation in the final report of the working party on Local Authority Superannuation relating to the reduction of superannuation awards together with other recommendations will be implemented by way of amending schemes and regulations which I propose to make under the provisions of the Local Government (Superannuation) Act, 1980, subject to the consent of the Minister for the Public Service. These schemes and regulations are in course of preparation and will be finalised as soon as possible.

Any relevant cases, including that of the person the subject of the question, will be investigated in the light of the new arrangements when made.
