I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that a claim for tax relief in respect of mortgage interest was received by the inspector from the taxpayer as recently as 30 January 1985. An amended certificate of tax-free allowances, incorporating an estimated figure for the amount of the interest payable by the taxpayer in the current year, 1984-85, will be issued shortly.
