Vol. 355 No. 9

Written Answers. - Assistance for Youth Activities.

411.

asked the Minister for Education the assistance, financial or otherwise, which has been allocated in 1984 by Comhairle le Leas Óige to groups or organisations located outside the Dublin VEC area; the amount involved in each case; and the purpose for which each grant was allocated.

Financial assistance is made available by my Department to the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee for the activities of Comhairle le Leas Óige to establish, maintain, assist or encourage the provision and maintenance of youth training centres. It is understood from the Comhairle le Leas Óige authorities that in 1984 funds were made available by it to the following organisations for activities outside the CDVEC's administrative area but for use by youth groups from within the CDVEC's administrative area:

Organisation

Amount

Purpose

1. Ballymun Holiday House Committee for Wicklow.

£3,380

Subsidy towards the cost of summer youth courses in Wicklow and provision of house superintendent for summer months.

2. Kilnacrott Abbey, Cavan, Project (also Summerhill Parade, Dublin).

£656

Decoration of premises and training of youth leaders.

3. Youth Task Arnamore, Co. Wicklow (also Cabra, Dublin).

£967

Subsidy for the training of youth leaders.

4. St. Xavier's, Dominick Street, Summer Home near Athy, Co. Kildare.

The funds made available by comhairle were solely in respect of the cost of the use of premises, etc., by youth groups from the CDVEC's administrative area.
