Vol. 356 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Custom House Quay Site.

11.

asked the Minister for Communications his views on a reported plan sent to the Government to dispose of a Custom House Quay site which will not at present attract its full value.

The Government decided on 20 June 1984 to establish a working party, under the chairmanship of the Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, to consider how best the Custom House Docks site can be developed to realise its value and at the same time achieve a satisfactory economic and social development. The working party hopes to be able to complete its work within the next few months after which a submission will be made to the Government in the matter. It would be premature to comment at this stage on any reports concerning the disposal of the site.

Is the Minister saying that as of now there is no approval for an offer of the site for sale?

That is right.

Would the Minister like to take the opportunity of making a comment on the recommendations of the Horgan report with regard to the Dublin Port and Docks Board?

I would not, because this is really a separate question which relates more to the Minister for Labour.
