Vol. 356 No. 2

Written Answers. - Castlebar Education Centre.

451.

asked the Taoiseach if he is aware of the difficulties that exist concerning the future of the education centre, The Mall, Castlebar, County Mayo; if he is satisfied that a very worthwhile job is being done by the centre; when funds will be available to allow the centre to continue to do its work following the termination of the lease period in June 1985; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am satisfied that the education centre in Castlebar has satisfactorily achieved its objective, the promotion of a wider interest in our national heritage collections. It is, therefore, my intention, subject to suitable local arrangements as to accommodation and staffing being made and with the continued co-operation of the County Mayo Vocational Education Committee, to allow the centre to continue in operation after June 1985, when the present lease on the premises expires.
