Vol. 356 No. 2

Written Answers. - Restaurant Liquor Licences.

504.

asked the Minister for Justice when it is proposed to introduce legislation granting liquor licences to restaurants; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick East): In the document Building on Reality, the Government expressed concern that our alcohol licensing arrangements were an impediment to the full development of the tourist trade. One of the measures decided on to help the tourist trade in this respect was that special provision should be made for the granting of full liquor licences to restaurants of an acceptable standard. Amending legislation will be needed to implement the decision. Work is at present in progress on the details to give effect to the Government's decision but I cannot at present say when I am likely to be in a position to submit draft legislation to the Government.
