Vol. 357 No. 3

Written Answers. - Clare Hospitals.

552.

asked the Minister for Health if he has made any provision for repairs, reconstruction or extensions at hospitals in County Clare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The question of carrying out repairs, reconstructions or extensions to hospitals in Country Clare is a matter for the MidWestern Health Board in the first instance. The only proposal I have from the board at present relates to Raheen District Hospital where the board is anxious to carry out some improvements and this is being examined at present. I have of course received a planning brief for the complete redevelopment of Ennis General Hospital but owing to the current difficult financial situation it is not possible to indicate when this scheme can be allowed to proceed. I will of course be making some funds available for improvements at Our Lady's Psychiatric Hospital as part of the programme for improving these institutions.
