Vol. 358 No. 12

Written Answers. - Tax Liability.

613.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will correct a tax error in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that, on the basis of the information available to the inspector, the husband's total assessable income for the current year, 1985-86, is not likely to exceed the appropriate age exemption threshold of £7,000. Accordingly, he is not liable to income tax for 1985-86. An exemption certificate was issued to him on 4 March 1985. The inspector will now communicate directly with the taxpayer with a view to ascertaining whether or not his wife is in receipt of income.
