Vol. 358 No. 12

Written Answers. - Dublin Nursing Home.

623.

asked the Minister for Health the reason a nursing home (details supplied) in Dublin 8 is not recognised by his Department for the purposes of health board aid.

Before a private nursing home is permitted to commence business it must comply with the requirements of the Health (Homes for Incapacitated Persons) Act, 1964. This nursing home in question has been inspected by the Eastern Health Board and by the chief fire officer of Dublin Corporation. The proprietor of the home was notified by the chief fire officer that it would be necessary to have some additional work carried out before the home could be passed as satisfactory.

I understand that the proprietor informed the chief fire officer on 16 May 1985 that this additional work has been completed. The health board is now awaiting the formal report from the chief fire officer before processing the matter further.
