Vol. 358 No. 12

Written Answers. - Postponement of Operation.

629.

asked the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7 who is a patient in Jervis Street hospital has had an urgent operation schedule for this month postponed indefinitely.

The operation referred to by the Deputy is the fitting of an artificial sphincter which is an advance on the treatment now available. Artificial sphincters have not been used in this country to date. My Department is at present reviewing the situation.
