Vol. 358 No. 13

Written Answers. - Disease Eradication Programme.

650.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is his intention to increase the compensation paid for animals rejected under the TB and brucellosis eradication scheme so that present day money values can be maintained.

As I stated in reply to a parliamentary question on 15 May, further changes in the levels of compensation to farmers under the disease eradication programme are not envisaged. With effect from October last, changes were made in the terms of the depopulation fund scheme and a new stock replacement scheme was introduced. In addition, grant levels for certain categories of reactors were increased as recently as February of this year.
