Vol. 358 No. 13

Written Answers. - Potato Import Regulations.

651.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the controls and/or regulations, if any, there are regarding the low priced potatoes being imported into our country; and the action he proposes to take in this matter.

Potatoes from other member states are entitled to free access into this country but potatoes from third countries may only be imported under licence. All imports are, however, subject to the provision of phytosanitary certificates. The customs and my Department exercise constant vigilance with regard to possible illegal imports of potatoes.
