Vol. 359 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repeal of Vagrancy Act.

17.

asked the Minister for Justice when he intends to repeal the Vagrancy Act of 1824.

(Limerick East): As the Deputy is no doubt aware, only one section — section 4 — of that Act is in force here, and not all of that section. The Law Reform Commission are examining the law on vagrancy at present and, I understand, have done quite an amount of work on it. The question of amending the law in this area will be considered by the Government when the commission's final recommendations come to hand.
