Vol. 359 No. 3

Written Answers. - Inter-airline Pool Arrangements.

570.

asked the Minister for Communications if he will name the seven member states against whom the European Commission has announced its intention to initiate further proceedings under Article 169 of the Treaty of Rome for refusing to help the Commission obtain information on, inter alia, inter-airline pool agreements; and the attitude of the Irish Government to this matter.

Ireland is one of several member states with whom the EC Commission has recently communicated. It would not be appropriate for me to name the other member states involved since these communications are of their nature confidential to the states concerned.

The Commission's communication was received only a few days ago and, pending detailed consideration of the various issues involved, I am not in a position to say what the Government's attitude is in the matter.
