Vol. 359 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Kildare Industrial Lands.

104.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism whether the IDA have plans to develop the industrial lands at Collinstown, Leixlip, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

105.

asked the Minister for Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism if, in view of the recently published ERDO Eastern Region Settlement Strategy Report, he will indicate his proposals for the development of industrial lands at Collinstown, Leixlip, County Kildare, which, if proceeded with, could have a major impact on job prospects in the area.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 104 and 105 together. The Eastern Region Settlement Strategy 2011 is intended to provide a framework within which the local authorities, private and public agencies and individuals can formulate their short and longer term plans, programmes and investment decisions. The report has now been circulated to all local authorities and other interested bodies for their reactions. My Department and the Industrial Development Authority, which is the Government agency responsible for the promotion of industrial development, will have regard to the content of this report in planning to meet the industrial needs of the areas in question.

I have been informed that the IDA have acquired an industrial site at Collinstown, North Kildare. The site is at present being actively promoted for new industry.
