Vol. 359 No. 4

Written Answers. - Baldoyle (Dublin) House Repairs.

111.

asked the Minister for the Environment, in relation to the recent announcement regarding houses built under the low cost housing scheme in the sixties and seventies, the amount of money he will make available for the provision of proper roofing for 307 houses in the Seagrange Estate, Baldoyle.

Under the arrangements made in implementation of paragraph 5.91 of the national plan, which relates to local authority houses suffering serious deterioration, it is a matter for the housing authority concerned to take the initiative by applying to my Department for approval to the assignment of funds for the structural works proposed. The scheme in question is designed primarily to meet the costs of essential remedial works to rented dwellings, although special arrangements have been made to deal with schemes of houses in which some of the dwellings have been, or are being, sold to the tenants under a tenant-purchase scheme.
