My Department have not entered into negotiations with the person mentioned for the purchase of the land offered to it because access thereto is not adequate for forestry development. It would be necessary to acquire some adjoining land to provide suitable access and negotiations to that end are proceeding at present. If these negotiations are successful the Department will then be in a position to consider negotiating for the purchase of the land referred to in the question.
