Vol. 361 No. 1

Written Answers. - CERT Advisers.

422.

asked the Minister for Labour if it is the policy of CERT to appoint male regional advisers only; the number of male and female advisers that are currently employed; and the number of males vis-à-vis females that are applicants for jobs as regional advisers at present.

CERT policy is that of an equal opportunities employer. CERT currently employ 25 training advisers, ten of whom are female. Of the 25 training advisers six operate as regional training advisers within the same grade. The country is divided by CERT into eight regions for operational purposes with one training adviser assigned to each. There are currently vacancies for training advisers for two regions and the six training advisers in the other regions are male.

Applications are being considered from 24 males and seven females for the two regional posts which are vacant. Appointments will be made on the basis of suitability for the post.
